REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work with minimum of 10 years appropriate experience in Social Work after registration with the South African Council for Social Services Professions. Preference will be given to individuals with experience in Community Development and working with Non-Governmental Organizations. Leadership qualities and understanding of new Social Welfare Paradigm, Policies, Legislation and Regulations that underpin the delivery of Social Development Services in the Partnership with NGO’s, CBO’s and FBO’S. Understanding of Service Level Agreements and the ability to communicate this to stakeholders. Ability to implement Labour Relations Procedures. Project management, research and analytical skills. Ability to work in multi – disciplinary teams in services delivery improvement programmes in the region. Excellent planning and organizing skills. Ability to work under pressure and display initiative. Good facilitation skills and sound report writing abilities. Knowledge of Social Work empowerment interventions. A valid driver’s license.

DUTIES: To provide supervision and guidance in the implementation NPO Capacity Building functions in the Region. Supervision in scrutinizing of NPO Business Plans. Quality assure the scrutinized business plans and approve onsite visits by Social Workers for verification. Supervision of report compilation and guide Social Workers on the content of NPO reports, quality assure the contents and accuracy of the reports and the preparation for the panelling. Provide support to Social Workers in presenting NPO reports, assist Social Workers in the formulation of responses during panel discussions. Provide recommendations on appropriate interventions and provide guidance in the preparation of final documents for funding. Guide Social Workers in explaining the conditions in Service Level Agreements. Supervising the signing of Service Level Agreement on behalf of the Department. Supervise and guide the onsite monitoring of Service Level Agreement by Social. Attend to staff grievance disciplinary matters and address misconduct of supervisees. Manage staff performance. Manage staff leave plans.

Interview Hints and Tips

Arrive on time for the interview. Plan your trip and leave early if you have to or if you are unfamiliar with the area. Give yourself enough time to find the building as well as parking. The interviewer will be judging the effect of your appearance on customers as well as staff. Your "look" must project the fact that you are the perfect '"fit" for that specific position and company.

Get rid of chewing gum and check your overall appearance before walking into the organisation's premises.

Switch your cellphone off once the interviewer knows that you have arrived for the interview - never, ever take a call during an interview. If there is a medical emergency in your family and your phone needs to be on then inform the interviewer and ask for permission to leave your phone on. In most cases the person will agree to it.

Remember to take a file with pen paper with you to the interview. This will assist you in making notes and to write down questions you might want to ask later.

The interview starts when the first question is asked. Right? Wrong. The interview starts the minute you arrive at the company and you will be under scrutiny by everyone who knows that interviews are being held. Only sit down when offered a chair.

If you are offered any coffee or tea you have three choices: Coffee, tea or nothing. Do not go and ask for something not offered - the organisation might not have it on the premises and the interviewer could feel embarrassed.

Keep an eye on your body language and avoid fidgeting, biting your nails, playing with your car keys, etc.
